Mortgages

Coming off a new-build deal

The fixed or tracker rate on a new home is ending.

The rate you took to buy the plot does not last forever. When it ends, a product transfer with that lender can be simpler, but it is not always cheaper than a remortgage, and some new-build restrictions fall away once the home is occupied and the warranty period has moved on. We compare both in time for the change.

  • A review started about three months before the rate ends
  • Product transfer with the current lender compared with a remortgage
  • Early repayment charges set against the saving, before you give notice
  • The booked rate kept under review if prices move before completion of the switch
